Letter from the President & CEO: January 2024

Silvia Headshot2023 was a great year as our small team (co)hosted 10 in-person events (Charlottetown, Halifax, Moncton, Montreal, Saskatoon, Toronto, Vancouver and Nashville), 7 virtual events, 70 webinars and training workshops involving over 2,000 participants. We also had our biggest in-person event to date – our National Conference which attracted almost 400 attendees. We upgraded 13 Toolbox programs and published “The Quick Guide To Becoming a Supplier for Large Organizations as a Canadian Women-Owned Business“.

We are kicking off this year with 600+ certified WBEs and 70+ Corporate Members. We are aware of economic pressures and the ever-challenging business environment. Our team is committed to walking the journey alongside our women business community and continuing to break down barriers and create new opportunities.

Our team starts 2024 with a renewed commitment to…

  1. Continue supporting corporate and government supplier diversity strategy development and improvement
  2. Develop and grow women-owned businesses through our Pathfinder program
  3. Build, promote and connect to supply chains ready to buy from Certified Women Business Enterprises (WBEs)

Changing the way corporations and governments buy is not an easy task. This is why WBE Canada is committed to building strong partnerships with organizations that provide great support to Canadian women-owned businesses, like Centre for Women in Business, Explore IP, Inner City Capital Connections, Ontario Government – MEDJT, PARO, Trade Commissioner Service and many others.

Check out our 2024 Sponsorship & Partnership Guide to see how we can partner together to accelerate the speed of change in Canada in 2024 and beyond.

I look forward to growing alongside you this coming year!

To your success,

Silvia Pencak
President & CEO, WBE Canada
