Women Business Enterprises Canada Council (WBE Canada) is a Canadian non-profit organization opening doors for Canadian women-owned businesses to supply chains across Canada, North America and globally. We are committed to promoting supplier diversity. We provide certification to Canadian companies that are majority-owned, managed and operated by women. Through our network, we connect these businesses with corporate and government buying opportunities, while also providing them with the resources and knowledge they need to conduct transactions with larger organizations.

Reporting to the Business Development Sr. Lead and the CEO, this position is a pivotal business development team member. The Business Development Lead will be responsible for supporting and leading strategic sales initiatives to meet and exceed WBE Canada’s sales targets.

About the Role

As a key member of the WBE Canada Business Development Team, you will:

  • Collaborate with the business development team to build relationships with new corporate members.
  • Align with the strategic direction of the organization to support sales goals, action plan, and overall department objectives; tactically implement the short-, mid- and long-term strategic direction.
  • Build relationships with present and potential corporate members.
  • Identify and create new business opportunities, information and sales activity interactions,
  • Arrange meetings between potential corporate members and develop business proposals through outbound sales activity,
  • Maintain regular reporting based on established KPIs to communicate performance,
  • Keep the organization’s CRM system and accounts updated at all times, explore customer needs and goals, generate and maintain opportunity plans,
  • Develop and conduct sales campaigns to increase memberships, partnerships, certifications, sponsorships and event registrations,
  • Work closely with other departments, to ensure seamless alignment and exceptional customer experience to stakeholders
  • Travel as needed – minimal amount required,
  • Provide support during events as needed.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a relevant field,
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience in business development or sales role,
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency using: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, GSuite, CRM and project management software,
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly,
  • Desire to own projects and exceed expectations, with the ability to find solutions and deliver results within a rapidly changing, technology-driven culture,
  • Display tact and good judgment in resolving problems and answering inquiries,
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit sector is an asset,
  • Passion for WBE Canada’s mission.

  • Strong emotional intelligence, with a willingness to learn and challenge yourself,
  • Strong oral and verbal communication skills in both official languages are an asset.
