WBE Canada had the opportunity to catch up plus meet many new faces at this year’s WBENC National Conference and Business Fair in Philadelphia this June. Conferences like this are key as they provide women business owners with education sessions and opportunities to connect face to face with firms that support supplier diversity for women.
WBE Canada hosted several activities in advance and during the WBENC conference, including a special “Breakfast with Brands.” Sponsored by the Kellogg Company and TD, the intimate setting meant this year’s event was the perfect blend of US/Canadian representations to make personal connections to build a relationship. Our Keynote speaker Tracy Joshua, Vice President, Procurement Indirect, Kellogg Company kicked off a morning of learning, panels and speed dating.
We were honored to have Katrin Hillner, President and CEO of PC Network Inc. (PCN) and member of the WBEC WBE Host Committee attend our WBE Canada activities. We are pleased to announce that PCN with HQs in Philadelphia and offices in Canada is our newest certified WBE.
Thank you to all supplier diversity professionals and representatives from BMO, Chep, David Michael and Co., Delta, Kellogg, TD and United Rentals who joined us, and to our partner organizations who encouraged attendance of WBEs from both sides of the border. This “human connection” is one way to support and encourage all to continue to build to success.
Mark your calendars! Next year’s WBENC conference will be June 23-25, 2015 in Austin, Texas.
