Recap of the WBE Meetups Across Canada
This July, the Women Business Enterprises (WBE) Community came together to celebrate their achievements, network, and forge stronger connections. WBE Canada hosted three in-person Meetups in different regions, providing an informal evening for certified WBEs to unite, exchange ideas, and learn about the latest updates. Let’s delve into the highlights of these unique events that took place in Halifax, Montreal, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
1. WBE Meetup: Halifax, NS – An Evening of Empowerment and Networking
The picturesque city of Halifax, NS, played host to the first WBE Meetup of the summer. Certified WBEs and champions of women-owned businesses gathered at the prestigious Brightwood Golf and Country Club for an evening of celebration and camaraderie. Denise Garagan, the esteemed host from Denny’s Atlantic Detail Products, set the tone for the evening.
Hosted by Denise Garagan from Denny’s Atlantic Detail Products, the event commenced with updates from Silvia Pencak and Ezgi Catagay from WBE Canada covering certification, upcoming events, programs, mentorship opportunities, and the highly anticipated National Conference scheduled for November. As the sun set over the beautiful golf course, attendees enjoyed delightful charcuterie while networking and engaging in meaningful discussions.
The success of the Halifax WBE Meetup wouldn’t have been possible without the support of its sponsors, RBC and Redwood Classics. Their commitment to empowering women-owned businesses and promoting supplier diversity played a significant role in making the event a resounding success.
2. WBE Meetup: Montreal, QC – Wine & Cheese, and Counting Success
The vibrant city of Montreal was the backdrop for the second WBE Meetup, which witnessed a record-breaking number of certified WBEs reaching 550 and counting! Le PARLOIR – caves privées provided the perfect setting for an intimate wine and cheese gathering. Anne-Marie Deslauriers of Delan graciously hosted the wine-tasting segment, adding a touch of sophistication to the evening.
Certified WBEs and business owners attending the Meetup were encouraged to bring along a friend to introduce them to the empowering WBE network. The event featured engaging discussions about the latest WBE Canada updates, including certification details, program offerings, and the upcoming National Conference. Attendees embraced the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share their experiences, and celebrate their collective success.
3. WBE Meetup: GTA, ON – Raising a Toast to Diversity and Collaboration
The bustling Greater Toronto Area (GTA) witnessed the culmination of the WBE Meetups with a grand celebration at Profile Wine Group. With a remarkable turnout, certified WBEs gathered to commemorate their accomplishments and build valuable relationships within their geographic area.
Marte Belisle of SommeEvents hosted an enjoyable wine-tasting session, while attendees savoured the delectable charcuterie on offer. The evening provided a platform for the WBE community to discuss WBE Canada’s latest initiatives, upcoming events, and the National Conference, setting the stage for further growth and collaboration.
The WBE Meetups in Halifax, Montreal, and the GTA exemplified the power of unity, networking, and empowerment among women business owners. With a record number of certified WBEs and counting, the events celebrated the achievements of women entrepreneurs and highlighted the valuable resources and opportunities offered by WBE Canada.
