Women driving success

TORONTO, April 12, 2016 – WBE Canada today recognized the success of diverse suppliers doing business with WBE Canada corporate members, General Motors and Toyota and their automotive tier suppliers.

“Both General Motors and Toyota are committed to building successful relationships with diverse suppliers and acknowledge doing business with Canadian suppliers that are women owned,” said Mary Anderson, president, WBE Canada.

The WBE Canada event recognized those women-owned businesses that have secured contracts and delivered services to leading automotive companies. These diverse, women-owned businesses have achieved WBE Canada’s certification, an internationally recognized standard for businesses that are majority-owned (51 per cent), managed, and controlled by a woman, or women. WBE Canada certification is widely recognized by corporate and government procurement programs as one of the ways of expanding supplier diversity in their supply chains.

“It’s time to celebrate the successes achieved by the champions of supplier diversity in this country,” said Anderson. “That’s why WBE Canada is proud to acknowledge the business success of these companies. Through the efforts of our corporate members, partners, and certified WBEs, a once little-known concept is now making a measurable difference in the supply chain.”

ABC Group Inc., Gerrie Electric Wholesale Limited, Naylor Building Partnerships Inc. and Pine Valley Packaging Group Inc. were the four tier one automotive suppliers that were presented with awards.
