WBE Canada Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Christine Canning, Managing Director, Supplier Relationship Management at BMO Financial Group has joined the Board as its newest Member.
BMO has been a WBE Canada Corporate Member since 2009 and is one of the original 6 founding member corporations of the organization. Christine steps into her role on the Board of Directors effective immediately, replacing outgoing BMO representative Catherine Grosz who is set to retire this month. Catherine has been an integral member of the Board since 2016 and presided as Chair from 2017 to 2019.
As Head of Supplier Relationship Management at BMO, Christine is responsible for defining standards and systems to drive strong supplier performance, providing tools, connections and insights to enable strong supplier relationships and managing several key enterprise supplier programs which build the value of BMO’s 3rd party relationships. Her mandate includes BMO’s supplier diversity program, focused on increasing the strength of the bank’s supply chain by ensuring it reflects the diversity of the communities it serves.
“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to help with the fantastic work that WBE Canada is doing to build bridges between Corporate and Public Procurement and Women Business Enterprises,” said Christine Canning. “Building diverse and inclusive supply chains has never been more important as we work towards recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, and we have the opportunity to build back better. I look forward to being a part of that work by helping to narrow the gap between women-owned businesses and procurement opportunities with large public and private organizations.”
“I am very excited to welcome Christine Canning to the WBE Canada Board. Christine brings 19 years of experience in a wide range of facets in the banking industry. Her advocacy work on behalf of BMO as the Bank of Women and her support and participation in events supporting women’s business shows her passion for helping women entrepreneurs to succeed and grow. We know Christine will have a positive impact and provide an exciting perspective to the strategic direction and future direction of WBE Canada,” said Dora Silva-Bolanos, Chair of the Board, WBE Canada.
