TORONTO – August 27, 2020
Women Business Enterprises Canada Council (WBE Canada) is thrilled to announce that Babcock Canada has joined our Corporate Member community. As a leading provider of complex engineering services, Babcock Canada provides vital services, technology and support solutions for assets of national importance in defence. emergency services and civil nuclear domains.
Babcock Canada buys a wide range of goods and services, requiring high performing suppliers across their supply chain in order to provide cost efficiency and responsibility to their customers. WBE Canada’s community of certified women-owned businesses is ready to respond to these unique and exciting opportunities that Babcock Canada brings to the organization as our latest corporate member and partner.
“Women owned businesses are underrepresented in supply chains. Large organizations can make a big impact through their purchasing if they start being more intentional about how they buy,” said Silvia Pencak, President, WBE Canada. “Babcock Canada is WBE Canada’s first Corporate Member in the defence sector and we are excited to see them lead the way in supporting Canadian Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) through their procurement opportunities. We look forward to working closely with them to help them develop their supplier diversity program and engage more Canadian women-owned businesses in their supply chain.”
WBE Canada continues to work tirelessly on growing the numbers and capacity of Canadian Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) – in the past 2 years the pool of WBE suppliers expanded by 40% and the numbers continue growing. With more women suppliers, there is a need for more corporations and governments to create opportunities for these businesses to ensure the economic stimulus of Canada.
“Babcock is very pleased to be joining WBE Canada as their first corporate member from Canada’s defence sector,” said Mike Whalley, President of Babcock Canada. “We are committed to promoting diversity throughout our supply chain and look forward to working with WBE Canada to promote opportunities for women-owned businesses.”
