Matchmaker Events

Who is eligible to participate in WBE Canada Matchmaker meetings?
Being eligible means that your company has a valid certification with WBE Canada and Matchmaker fee paid. Eligibility does not guarantee you a Matchmaker meeting.

Can WBE supplier request a meeting with the buyer?
Matchmaker is a buyer driven program. Even though WBE Canada sometimes allows WBE suppliers to request meetings with the buying organizations, such meetings are not guaranteed and will be assigned based on the buyer request. It is very important that your company profile is current with relevant and compelling company description.

How do I prepare for Matchmaker event?
This is your time to convince the buyer to take your company to the next level, so do your homework! Every company is different, convince them that your company can meet their specific needs because you understand what those needs are. Be on time! WBEs who arrive late, will not be allowed to enter the Matchmaker meeting room. Arrive 20 minutes prior to your meeting to check in and be seated in the holding room. For virtual meetings call in 2-3 min early to ensure that your line is properly connected. Utilize breaks between the meetings to prepare for your next meeting.

What are the Industry events?
Industry events are events focusing on a specific industry. WBE Canada hosts multiple industry events – Financial, Automotive and Tech.

Who is eligible to attend WBE Canada’s Industry Events?
Industry events are designed to inform Certified suppliers about the latest changes in specific industry and to connect Certified suppliers to the buyers in the organizations with supplier diversity programs. Priority is given to WBE Canada certified businesses. Space permitting, we might occasionally open the registration to suppliers certified by other Canadian councils.

How do I prepare for Industry events?
Industry events are designed to provide you with the opportunity to meet buyers and supplier diversity professionals in a group setting (roundtables). You will have opportunity to join 3-4 corporate tables to learn more about their supplier diversity program and present your 2min. pitch to the representatives in attendance. There is usually also an opportunity to ask questions and have further conversations.
