WBE Meetup: Perfecting Your Pitches

WBE Canada invites all certified WBEs to WBE Meetup: Perfecting Your Pitches on February 21, 2024!
How do you introduce your business?
Is your elevator pitch ready as you head into upcoming events and meetings with potential new customers? SAC is organizing the perfect opportunity to test your business introduction with fellow WBEs and gain instant feedback and tips to help elevate your pitch.
Here’s what you’ll gain:
- A platform to test your elevator pitch and showcase your business
- Invaluable feedback from peers in various industries
- An opportunity to network and build alliances with other WBEs
- Tips on how to grow your business within the WBE network
Each person will be asked to introduce themselves and their business with a 1-minute elevator pitch.
(Valid WBE Certification is required)
Important Note: Registration is FREE for WBE Meetups, however, seats are limited in order to facilitate meaningful conversations. If you need to cancel, please provide notice at least 48 hours prior to Meetup date so we can extend availability to those on the waiting list.
Meet the presenters
Amanda Rogers, Founder and CEO of iPlume Writing Inc., possesses a wealth of experience in providing unparalleled writing and editing support to clients from around the globe. Demonstrating exceptional skills in grant and proposal writing, Amanda draws on over two decades of senior-level knowledge in the not-for-profit and community-based sectors. With a firsthand understanding of the challenges associated with being underfunded and overworked, Amanda invests wholeheartedly in crafting winning applications that reflect a sincere commitment to clients, their missions, and the attainment of much-needed funding. Armed with a Master of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Study and an Advanced Major Bachelor of Sociology, Amanda has dedicated several years to extensive research, academic writing, and strategic business growth. Her diverse background includes three years of teaching English in South Korea and extensive travels to over 25 countries. As a well-rounded individual, Amanda values, honours, and creates space to listen to and understand diverse perspectives and worldviews.
Denise Garagan works in the Automotive Industry to offer dependable innovative products. During COVID saw the opportunity for growth becoming WBE certified, validating the strength and options for Corporate/Commercial/Fleet accounts. Denise is also a member of CFIB, GBBA, and CWB networking has helped with her advantage. After working in the business for over 30 years, training and knowledge are what support that growth. Denise also took time away from the Maritimes to represent Canada at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida, the customer experience she gained stays with her today. Denise loves to travel, is an avid foodie, and being an entrepreneur compliments this chosen lifestyle and opens a world of discussions.
Lisa Learning, founder of AtlanTick Repellent Products, is a proudly indigenous woman entrepreneur. While growing up in Labrador, Lisa learned directly from her father and Grandmother about respecting the land and utilizing local resources to devise solutions. Lisa Ali-Learning was born to be an entrepreneur and has been for most of her adult life. She loves to learn about new things, thrives on new challenges, and excels at finding ways to make things happen. The development of AtlanTick, a tick-safety product manufacturing company, rose from a difficult family experience – the sickness of both of her sons due to the ever-growing Lyme disease epidemic. As with her efforts in the past, Lisa approached the illness with curiosity, determination, and optimism. She focused on the immediate care of her children while developing safe, natural formulas to keep them from encountering future tick bites, the source of the disease.
Katia Dedovic is an IT and Business Process Improvement Consultant with solid business analysis experiences and with good knowledge of project management best practices. One of my key skill sets is the mapping and modeling of future business processes. I look forward to contributing to the improvement/innovation of supplier diversity in the supply chain at all levels. I am very pleased to have been selected to join the SAC committee and will do my best to help WBE to grow stronger.
Marty Britton is the President & CEO of Britton Management Profile Inc., (BMP) the first-ever reference-checking company in Canada. Incorporated in 1974, BMP has been in business for over 48 years. Maryse Benhoff is President of BG Communications International Inc., a leading translation services provider headquartered in Montréal, Canada. She is recognized for being a leader in the field of translation, a pioneer in translation standardization and for championing the advancement of women in business. She currently serves as International Chair of ISO’s TC37/SC5 which develops standards for Translation and Interpreting worldwide. She also sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Language Industry Association (CLIA). Since 2015, Maryse has sats on the Translation Programming Committee at McGill University with a view to help shape curricula and course content to align with market demands. Maryse was nominated to the Supplier Advisory Committee within WBE Canada in 2019 and elected its Chair in 2020 culminating in a seat on the BOD of WBE Canada until 2022.
Her company has been Certified with WBE Canada since 2009 and in 2022 was the winner of the WBE Supplier of the Year Award
