With a focus on structuring, the presentation will discuss strategies relating to leverage the small business deduction, salary versus dividend compensation decision, tax efficient accumulation of corporate surplus, retirement planning, as well as legal and other risk management strategies to protect your business. You will also get insights on exit options for eventual business transition and discuss planning techniques such as leveraging the lifetime capital gain exemption to prepare for a potential sale. The session will be followed by a 15 min Q&A to answer your questions.

Meet The Speaker
As the Director, Advanced Planning, Jennifer oversees national tax support for advisors and relationship managers as well as leads the Business & Family Advisory Services offering. In this capacity, she provides technical support and coaching to the BFAS specialists, thought leadership, policies and procedures and other tactical support for the team. This bodes well with her dual role acting as the leading subject matter expert for Wealth Management Taxation. Jennifer works in partnership with Scotiabank’s team of specialists to provide tax and estate solutions for their clients delivering Total Wealth solutions. Jennifer received an HBBA from Wilfrid Laurier University. She holds the Chartered Accountant (CA), and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations, and is currently working on her Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation. Jennifer has 20 years of experience in financial services working at a number of investment and insurance companies as well as in public practice. Jennifer has a proven record of delivering results through innovative strategies and process improvement. She has been featured in a number of national media publications and has brought tremendous value to advisors and their clients. With a passion for public speaking, Jennifer has a unique ability to thoughtfully and effectively share complicated concepts in useful, relative terms.
